Have You Tried QWO Cellulite Treatment?

QWO is a new treatment that recently received FDA approval to smooth cellulite. QWO, also known as collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes (CCH), is an injectable that is used to even out dimpling in the buttocks.

Cellulite is a common problem in women. In fact, up to 90% of women have some cellulite, regardless of whether they are at a healthy weight. Although cellulite can also appear in men’s bodies, it is much more common in women. This is because the collagen bands beneath the skin form differently in women than in men.

We can improve the appearance of cellulite with QWO treatment at Exclusively Radiant MedSpa. Learn more about this innovative procedure and how it works.

What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the dimpling seen in your skin that is interlaced with pockets of fat. It is not caused by skin laxity or saggy skin but by bands of collagen, also called septae, that attach the skin to muscle tissue.

The visible dimples that form cellulite are caused when these bands tighten up between the pockets of fat and begin to pull the skin inward. This tightening creates the appearance of fat appearing as dimples or divots.

Until now, the options for treating cellulite were very limited and often only produced modest results. However, there are now some excellent, effective cellulite treatments available, and QWO is one of them.

Other cellulite procedures use tiny incisions, lasers, and different types of energy like infrared or radiofrequency energy. Treatments that remove fat, like liposuction, don’t particularly treat cellulite. QWO is different.

While there is no permanent remedy for cellulite yet, QWO is one of the most effective, longest-lasting treatments.

How Does the QWO Cosmetic Injectable Work?

The enzymes in QWO, called collagenases, target the structural causes of cellulite under the skin.

These collagenases work to redistribute fat cells, release fibrous collagen bands and cause them to relax, and stimulate new collagen growth. QWO is the only injectable treatment approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe cellulite issues in women.

Some other cellulite treatments work by physically severing collagen septae with small blades or laser energy. With the QWO cosmetic injectable, however, treatment is minimally invasive, and septae are loosened chemically.

Not only is QWO less invasive than other cellulite treatments, but it also requires a much shorter period of downtime and is less expensive.

What to Expect from QWO Treatments

Patients should plan on completing three treatment sessions that are spaced about three weeks apart. Results will vary from one patient to another and will depend on several factors, including the severity of the dimpling of the skin. Most of our patients see visible results within one month after the final treatment.

In some cases, results begin to become noticeable even in between treatments. For the most part, our patients can expect to see a dramatic improvement in the texture of the skin that can last two to three years. Treatment sessions themselves are quick; injections can take as little as ten minutes.

Who Is a Good Candidate for the QWO Cosmetic Injectable?

Like many women, if you’ve noticed dimpling in your buttock area, you likely already know that diet and exercise won’t make cellulite go away.

The ideal candidates for QWO are adult women who have moderate or severe cases of cellulite in the buttocks. Currently, QWO is not indicated for men or for use in other body areas like the thighs.

Skin Laxity vs. Cellulite Dimples

There is a difference between skin laxity and true cellulite dimples, although both issues can look similar. As the skin thins with age and fibrous elastin becomes rigid, it can fragment, causing the skin to lose its ability to bounce back as it does during youth. This is what causes skin laxity, or sagging skin.

However, skin laxity is not the same as true cellulite. While skin laxity can produce a wavy appearance that can mimic cellulite, the treatment method is different for each. Cellulite should be confirmed as the cause of dimpling before QWO treatments begin.

Differentiating between skin laxity and cellulite dimples can be done by lifting the skin above the indentation. If the dimple disappears, the issue in that area is skin laxity and not cellulite. QWO is not indicated for treating laxity.

QWO Cellulite Treatment Procedure

Before your procedure, we will see which dimples should be treated while you stand relaxed with your feet apart. We will mark these dimples after taking photos. These photos will serve as evidence of the treatment’s effectiveness and will be used to evaluate your results later.

You will lie face down, and when you are comfortable, we will inject directly into the dimples on the skin using a very small needle. Either 6 or 12 dimples per buttock will be treated per visit. The entire procedure is quick, and after the injections are done, you will remain on your stomach for five minutes.
