QWO For Cellulite

QWO is the first and only injectable, non-surgical treatment that is FDA-approved to address moderate to severe cellulite of the buttocks in adult women. QWO is a groundbreaking non-surgical treatment developed by Endo Pharmaceuticals that has the ability to minimize the appearance of moderate or severe cellulite in the buttocks. QWO utilizes Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum (CCH), a naturally occurring enzyme that has been shown to break down collagen in specific targeted areas to disrupt the fibrous septae that is the underlying cause of cellulite. QWO is the only minimally invasive injectable proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite and improve the overall quality of the skin.

Why do I have Cellulite?

Cellulite is a localized alteration in the contour of the skin that manifests as dimpling of the skin, typically along the buttocks and the thighs. Cellulite is not a result of skin laxity, but rather, the puckering effect is caused by fibrous bands of collagen known as “fibrous septae” which can tether the skin underlying muscle, drawing it downward. As this tension occurs, fat lobules protrude around the septae leading to a dimpling, waviness, “orange-peel” or “cottage cheese” appearance of skin texture. It is estimated that nearly 90% of all women will develop some degree of cellulite during their lifetime.

How does QWO work?

QWO is a solution that is injected with a very small needle directly into cellulite dimples along the buttocks. Most patients find the injection to be minimally painful and liken the treatment to the feeling of a rubber band snap. The treatment itself takes only minutes to perform. Patients should plan to complete 3 treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart.

When injected into the treatment area, QWO works to breakdown the fibrous septae (collagen bands) by enzymatically targeting collagen types 1 and 3. This release of the septae in turn releases the dimple, resulting in smoother skin and an improved appearance of cellulite.

What are the side effects of QWO?

The most common side effects of QWO include bruising, pain, redness, itchiness, or hardening along injection sites. Some discoloration, swelling, or warm sensations along the treatment area are also possible. In clinical studies, the intensity of bruising typically lessened with each treatment, and overall side effects generally lasted less than three weeks.

What to expect from QWO treatments?

While results may vary, most patients achieve visible results 28 days after the third treatment. Although in most cases we have noticed improvement of cellulite between treatments. Most patients will enjoy a dramatic reduction in the appearance of their cellulite for up to 2-3 years following treatment.
